Definition of Concretes Cracks:
★Flexure Cracks: Flexure word also means “Bending”. Cracking in ferroconcrete beams subjected to bending usually starts within the tensile zone i.e. soffit of the beam. Stay narrow from surface to the steel.
★Shear Cracks: Shear cracks occurs in hardened stage and it's usually caused by structural (self weight) loading or movement. These sorts of cracks are better illustrates as diagonal tension cracks thanks to combined effects of flexural (bending) & shearing
Action.
★Torsional Cracks: Usually beams are subjected to torsion alongside bending moment and shear force.
★Corrosion Cracks: Corrosion cracks runs along the road of reinforcement. It always separates the concrete from reinforcing bars. It's mostly manifested by discoloration of paint or stains of rust.
★Shrinkage Cracks: Shrinkage cracks occurs during two stages, which are pre-screening stage and hardened stage. In resharpening stage these sorts of cracks are called as plastic shrinkage cracks & in hardened stage they're referred to as drying shrinkage cracks. Shrinkage cracks occur when fresh concrete is subjected to a really rapid loss of moisture.
★Sliding Cracks: The diagonal mode of failure by sliding along the critical cracks is understood as failure by sliding and typically appears at the sting of the supports of beam. These sorts of cracks appear if concrete gets disturbed in fresh state.
★Tension Cracks: Tension cracks in ferroconcrete beams occur usually thanks to shrinkage or temperature variations. Tension cracks usually appear in those members where restraint is provided within the longitudinal movements. Usually tension cracks tend to propagate over the complete depth of the cross-section of
